As this hybrid is prone to rot of new growths if watered overhead, it is indeed fortunate that the most famous cultivar 'Goliath' was raised by Bernie Fletcher., otherwise the magnificence of this orchid may have been lost.

Yondi Tina is credited with 17 first generation off-springs, and it is likely that most would have used 'Goliath' - the most famous off-springs to date being Midas Touch and Australian Goldrush (D Butler hybridiser) - it is interesting to note that with 'Goliath' it can only be used as the 'pollen' parent.

An interesting aspect of 'Goliath' is that it flowers in the second week of September when many of other Dendrobium hybrids have finished - eg Avril's Gold - to make Midas Touch (AG x YT) pollen needs to be stored for the following year.

Goto will store pollen for next year, but, as luck would have it some 'hot/colds' are out at the moment and some hybridising will be undertaken.

Den Yondi Tina 'Goliath' 20170215 - tall upright growths, wide lax foliage and a relatively easier grower if not watered overhead during the new growth period, otherwise rot of new growth may occur

Den Yondi Tina 'Goliath' 20170915 (5387) - good yellow flowers of good shape and colour on a wiry inflorescence - with the light behind, the labellum 'pops'

Den Yondi Tina 'Goliath' 20170915 (5390) closeup - note the red spotting on the sepals, particularly the lateral.

Den Brinawa Sunset 'Falcon' 20170915 (5407) - one for pollination

Den Brinawa Charm (Pee Wee 'Keith' x kingi Chew Bacca) - hopefully YT 'Goliath' will improve flower spacing and improve shape, without reducing colour.

Den Lustrous (Pee Wee 'Keith' x Sunglow 'Big Yellow) 20170915

I will store pollen from 'Goliath' to use next year, but, as luck would have it I have some 'hot' orchids in flower at the moment, and I will try a little hybridising

'Goliath' is regarded as very fertile as the pollen parent only.
